In 1861, Carl Mahr founded the present day parent company of Mahr GmbH in Esslingen. On October 21, 2011, the company celebrated its anniversary with a ceremony at its location in Esslingen. Among the guests were also Nils Schmid, Baden-Württemberg Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs as well as Vice-President of Parliament Wolfgang Drexler and Esslingens Mayor Jürgen Zieger.
